When I started teaching 20 years ago, I discovered that some of our most hard working, dedicated, and professional educators were, in fact, active leaders in our union. They knew what I know now, that our union is an association of professionals. In order to attract and retain the best educators for our children we need to be part of the solution and not the problem. I wanted to become active in my local, state and national teacher’s union.
